As we move from the cold days of winter

into the Warmer Summer weather, Lets use those extra Daylight Hours to Increase our Activity Level & Create our Best Body. This month’s challenge is about making a few changes that in turn will create a healthier, more energetic self.

GOAL:

Choose any 2 (or more) Healthy Habits from the list to accomplish each day in May. Aim to create many different combo’s, and try to achieve all the healthy habits by month’s end. Focus on pushing your own personal limits and do new and more challenging things. The healthy habits covers both nutritional and physical fitness habits that aid in optimal overall health and well-being.

The Healthy HABITS system

Walk or Run 2 miles (consecutively/without stops, preferrably first thing in the morning if possible)

Avoid all processed sugar, dessert, refined or simple carbs, and alcohol

Complete a Feat of Fitness -try a new & challenging physical feat (ex. commuting to work by bike, doing stair repeats, running a 5K race, hiking a new trail, trying out a new yoga class, taking a spin class, do a track workout of 4x400’s) Anything that is new & challenging to you on a personal level that makes you test/push boundaries.

Do a Day of Intermittent Fasting, Consume meals within an 8 hour window, Allow your metabolism to have a 16 hour break from consumption. (ex. 10am-6pm, or 12pm-8pm)

10 Minutes of Plank Exercise in a Day (can spread out, and break into 1-2 minutes if needed, also can incorporate both side plank, and elbow or straight-arm plank forms)

Get 8 hours of sleep, drink 8-8 ounce glasses of water during the day, and do 8 concentrated minutes of total body stretching

Incorporate healthy vegetables into 2 meals of the day, and aim to pair with a lean healthy protein or high fiber food (ex. greek yogurt, lentils, quinoa, eggs, nuts/seeds, tofu, barley, soy/almond milk, fish, oats, berries, lean/organic minimally processed meat, chickpeas, beans)

The reward:

A healthier, stronger, and better you!   Making a lifestyle change takes time and commitment, but the payoff will feel so good. Hopefully, after staying steadfast for an entire month with YOUR well-being at the forefront, it will be easy to continue.
